　　In Tokyo a ruthless gang start holding up U.S. ammunition trains, prepared to kill any of their own members wounded during a robbery. Down-at-heal ex-serviceman Eddie Spannier arrives from the States apparently at the invitation of one such unfortunate. But Eddie isn't quite what he seems as he manages to make contact with Sandy Dawson who is obviously running some sort of big operation, and his plan is helped by aquaintance with Mariko, secret Japanese wife of the dead American....

塞缪尔·富勒第二部彩色片吧，和前一年的《Hell and High Water》一样是使用福克斯的CinemaScope技术。影片在日本取景，彩色片在摄影上对黑色电影的视觉表现不如黑白摄影，在剧情上本片也有诸多不合逻辑，比如这个黑帮老大凭什么这么信任一个刚入帮的新成员，最后黑帮老大的死也是因为过于装逼了。

宽银幕彩色黑色电影，号称在日本取景，以“真实性”为卖点。山口淑子（李香兰）出演角色，给美国卧底准备洗澡水和早餐、温柔按摩，说“我们日本女人从出生起就被教育怎么取悦男人”。影片被日本媒体批评，认为不尊重日本习俗、地理和感情，不过是奇观展示和一厢情愿的幻想。小津认为此片是“国耻”


本片是马丁斯科塞斯的《无间道风云》第二次被翻拍。02年的港版《无间道》反响不错，而萨姆富勒的这个版本过分卖弄异域风情，节奏呆滞；在我看来，还是1948年的第四次翻拍《无名街道》节奏最密集，整体最精彩
